What’s on my cosmic nails…#10

GALAXY NAILS2GALAXY NAILS
Dark blue: Barry M, Navy
White: Boots 17, mini skirt
Dark purple: Barry M, vivid purple
Glitter: Barry M, Hologram
I was so excited to try out ‘galaxy’ nails. I think they turned out OK. :/ They aren’t my most favourite nail design ever but, I suppose it was fun to try out a new technique. I basically just sponged colours on top of each other to make a cloudy, space like effect then added the glitter polish to look like stars. :S THEYWERESOHARDTOPHOTOGRAPH!!! :/ They look better IRL, promise. ;)

All in all, I like them but they are just alot darker than the nail colours I normally like to wear. I don’t know, I think I just miss last weeks neon green nails. Back to brights next week I think! ;)

Stargazer Green Glitter Nails…

RIMMEL ULTRA SHINE TOP COATGREEN GLITTER NAILS STARGAZERGREEN GLITTER NAILS RIMMELRIMMEL STARGAZER GREEN GLITTER
Green Glitter*: Stargazer
Rimmel High Shine Top Coat

The awesome people at Stargazer kindly sent me a wee care package the other week of some of their newest stock & aside from the eyeliner pen (which is awesome) this green glitter pot stood out to me the most. One because it is sparkly, everyone loves a bit of glitter non? & two, the colour, I love the colour green so much, black aside, it’s probably my favourite.

The obvious thing to do with a glitter pot is probably to use it as eye shadow, which would be fab but I really wanted to be able to get more every day wear out of it so, as you can see, nails quickly sprung to mind.
It’s kind of self explanatory how I did it but basically & coated my nails with clear polish, dunked my fingers into the glitter pot, let the polish dry a little, wiped off the excess glitter from my nails & fingers then added another couple our clear top coats to keep the glitter in place & looking mighty shiny!

Now I know what you are thinking, it’s all well & good that it looks pretty on your nails Hev, but was it a bitch to get off?!?! NO! :) Because of the clear coat that I used, it’s kind of gel like, the glitter was SUPER easy to get off my nails, you know no dunking them in goodness knows how much nail varnish remover & going through a packet of cotton wool pads, no, no, this baby just peeled right off when I wanted it to, leaving no sign of any glitter, hurrah! :)

What do you think? Have you ever tried using glitter as nail varnish?

Nude spots…

SPOTTY NAILS 2SPOTTY NAILS 3
Rhinestones: here
You may have seen me moaning on twitter before that it took me over an hour & a half to remove my nail varnish so that I could paint them again. I have no idea why, but the clear nail varnish (it was just a non brand cheap one) I used as a top coat was stuck to my nails like superglue & I ended up having to soak each nail in a nail varnish remover drenched cotton pad, it was a painfully slow experience O.O

But hey I managed to get it off so I could paint these lovely dots on my nails, yay! ^_^ I know they are nothing special but I really like spotty nails at the moment, they are dead easy to do, take no time at all & look really smart when they are finished, it really is a nail design for everyone, so if you are just starting out experimenting with nail art, I’d give these a go! ^_^

Yesterday we went to a little city not to far from us called San Sebastian with out friend Jon. It’s such a pretty little place & right by the sea. Loads of people travel there to go surfing, as you can see, the waves get pretty big. We didn’t do any surfing ourselves as it is the middle of December & too cold haha, maybe in the summer? :)

I know I haven’t really been on the ball with blogging & YouTube over the past week or so but I have been feeling pretty crappy :/ My throat feels like death & my voice sounds horrendous on camera because of it! Ah well, I have been filming bits & bobs for the Christmassy/festive vlog I have planned & I will be filming more when we get back to England next week so I will hopefully be able to edit & post that soon. :) I really can’t wait to go home for a bit. :)

I hope you are all well & getting into the festive spirit. :) Gotta love this time of year! :)

ALSO, THE LOVELY SOPHIE OF ‘LITTLE ME’ HAS BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU ALL 20% DISCOUNT BY USING THE CODE ‘EFFIESMAKEUPBOX’ :) AWESOMENESS :) THANK YOU SOPHIE!

So I’m sure you have all already seen nails like these all over the interwebz after Wildfox’s S/S 10 collection?( I think?) Anyway, I have always liked the design & thought it would be fun to try them out myself I didn’t want to copy them exactly so I thought It would be cool to give the bunnies different glasses instead of all heart shaped ones. ^_^ What do you think? :)

Also, I finally uploaded a video to YouTube so go & watch it goddamnit! ;)

My HALLOWEEN nails…

Hahaha, the last picture wasn’t meant to be so blurry but it actually turned out looking pretty sweet!
Pink: Models Own, Pink Punch
White: no brand :/
Black: Natural Collection liquid eyeliner
Top coat: Natural Collection, Crystal Clear
OK so I have spent the last few weeks trying out all different kinds of Halloween nail designs & trying to do something a little different than the ‘usual’ pumpkin/blood dripping/spider web nails that normally fill up blog & YT feeds around this time of year. I finally decided on these beauts & they were surprisingly easy to do too! :)

I am actually gutted that we are not home for Halloween this year because they don’t really do much here to celebrate at all & if you know me, you will know that Halloween is one of my (& Liams) favourite ‘holidays’ so we are pretty jealous of all you guys at home who get to celebrate properly. My Mum has apparently rented a gothic vampire costume to wear to a fancy dress that she is going to with the rest of my family which sounds pretty awesome, I can’t wait to see the pictures!

On the plus side, I did get to draw a couple of Halloween worksheets for Liam to use in his lessons at school which was fun, & we managed to find a pumpkin to carve (even if it is the smallest one in the world) so I guess it’s not all bad. ;)

It would be great if you could send me your links to any Halloween posts you have done, as you know, I have pretty much been out of the blogging ‘loop’ for frick knows how long (WAH) & I would love to read some of your ‘Halloween’ shizzle!

PS: Would someone be kind enough to buy & send me the Primark black leather pleated skirt? (You know the one I mean? in a size 8) obvs I'd send you the money & pay for postage :) & I will give a months free advertising to the sender as a thankyou :) I am in desperate need of a leather skirt in my life & the Primark here is a million miles away WAH!!! :)

Dark yellow: Barry M ‘yellow’
Light yellow: Models Own ‘lemon sherbet’
Black: Natural Collection liquid eyeliner
So just a little update whilst we still have the internet. :) You may have seen on twitter the other day that I painted my nails in ‘celebration’ of us finding a flat, ( I don’t know why I chose bananas, I just wanted a little change from my usual leopard print that I seem to have been wearing all the time recently. :/ ) We move in tomorrow morning! ^_^ It’s only small but it’s really cute & best of all, it’s pretty cheap! ^_^ I can’t wait to show you guys! would it be sad if I did a ‘flat tour’ video? Ahaha :)
*ps: I might be a little MIA for the next week or so whilst we get the internet sorted in our flat. Thank you for sticking around ;)*

Models own polishes…

MODELS OWN POLISHES 3MODELS OWN POLISHESMODELS OWN POLISHES 2
So, like everyone else, I took advantage of the Models Own half price sale this week. You’ve got to love Models Own polishes, so easy to apply, their longevity is amazing, great packaging, & some of the most ‘on trend’ & unusual colours for a pretty reasonable buck!

I managed to bag most of the colours I had been lusting over, unfortunately pink explosion & Emerald City were out of stock :( ah well, hopefully they’ll be back in stock soon!

As you can see, I have got a bit of a ‘thing’ for bright neon nails at the moment. I really am so happy with the colours I bought & as always I am so impressed with the colour quality of the polishes & they come out exactly as  they look in the bottle which is fab! My favourite of them all has to be ‘Tangerine Queen’. It’s so bright! I have never seen a nail polish even remotely like it before.

Did you get anything from the Models Own sale? Leave me your links to your blog posts, I’d love to see what colours you all bought! :)
