What’s on my cosmic nails…#10

GALAXY NAILS2GALAXY NAILS
Dark blue: Barry M, Navy
White: Boots 17, mini skirt
Dark purple: Barry M, vivid purple
Glitter: Barry M, Hologram
I was so excited to try out ‘galaxy’ nails. I think they turned out OK. :/ They aren’t my most favourite nail design ever but, I suppose it was fun to try out a new technique. I basically just sponged colours on top of each other to make a cloudy, space like effect then added the glitter polish to look like stars. :S THEYWERESOHARDTOPHOTOGRAPH!!! :/ They look better IRL, promise. ;)

All in all, I like them but they are just alot darker than the nail colours I normally like to wear. I don’t know, I think I just miss last weeks neon green nails. Back to brights next week I think! ;)

Stargazer Green Glitter Nails…

RIMMEL ULTRA SHINE TOP COATGREEN GLITTER NAILS STARGAZERGREEN GLITTER NAILS RIMMELRIMMEL STARGAZER GREEN GLITTER
Green Glitter*: Stargazer
Rimmel High Shine Top Coat

The awesome people at Stargazer kindly sent me a wee care package the other week of some of their newest stock & aside from the eyeliner pen (which is awesome) this green glitter pot stood out to me the most. One because it is sparkly, everyone loves a bit of glitter non? & two, the colour, I love the colour green so much, black aside, it’s probably my favourite.

The obvious thing to do with a glitter pot is probably to use it as eye shadow, which would be fab but I really wanted to be able to get more every day wear out of it so, as you can see, nails quickly sprung to mind.
It’s kind of self explanatory how I did it but basically & coated my nails with clear polish, dunked my fingers into the glitter pot, let the polish dry a little, wiped off the excess glitter from my nails & fingers then added another couple our clear top coats to keep the glitter in place & looking mighty shiny!

Now I know what you are thinking, it’s all well & good that it looks pretty on your nails Hev, but was it a bitch to get off?!?! NO! :) Because of the clear coat that I used, it’s kind of gel like, the glitter was SUPER easy to get off my nails, you know no dunking them in goodness knows how much nail varnish remover & going through a packet of cotton wool pads, no, no, this baby just peeled right off when I wanted it to, leaving no sign of any glitter, hurrah! :)

What do you think? Have you ever tried using glitter as nail varnish?

Barry M Confetti Effect Polishes…

BARRY M CONFETTI NAIL EFFECTSBARRY M CONFETTI NAIL EFFECTS SWATCHES

I took a little trip to Boots yesterday to pick up a new lipstick (‘fig leaf’ from Natural Collection, which is awesome by the way!) & ended up encountering these beauties! Now, I’m sure you all know that these are Barry M’s answer to the Nails Inc ‘feather’ polishes & I have seen the Nails Inc ones & can say that these are just as good, if not better & so much cheaper! As you can see I was very indecisive & ended up buying all the colours but it was buy one get one half price at Boots so I couldn’t really say no, could I?

I think ‘liquorice’ is my favourite, but that’s no big shock from me as I love a good ol’ black nail varnish! However I am currently wearing Sour Apple & I am loving it!

I am really happy with the coverage of all the colours (the picture above is three thin coats as I wanted a good coverage) & I’m sure they look fab with one coat over a solid colour too! I haven’t tried removing the polishes yet but I’m sure they will be no different, hopefully easier, than removing a regular glitter varnish, but for just £3.99 a bottle, I’m sure we’ll live ;)

Have you tried Barry M Confetti polishes yet? Which is your favourite?

As you all probably know by now, I am a huge fan of Janchristie nail stickers. They are so quirky & dead easy to apply. They look great on long & short nails, over nude or painted nails. They would make such great Christmas presents for anyone who loves nail art & they are a bargain at just £1.80 a sheet!

I know, I know, he doesn’t actually say it exactly like this in The Amazing Spiderman but it’s such a legendary quote, I couldn’t help myself ;)

I was recently sent these three OPI nail polishes from their new ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ collection to celebrate the film coming out on DVD on Monday (26th) As you all probably know by now, I am a huge superhero fan so when I was asked if I wanted to do my very own Spidey-themed nail design, I couldn’t really refuse! ;)

Me & Liam went to watch the film when it came out & we were both blown away by it. I wasn’t really sure if I was going to like it as obviously Spiderman had been ‘done’ before but oh.my.gosh. It was amazing! Best Spiderman film yet for sure! Did any of you guys see it at the cinema? What did you think? If not, will you be buying it on DVD? I’m deffo going to be picking one up in time for Christmas!

Anyway I hope you like my tutorial, let me know if you try it out!

The Amazing Spider-Man is out on Blu-ray and DVD 26th November

I was specifically asked if I could do 2 spooky nail tutorials & well, this is the first of the two! I hope you like it! Let me know if you try them out!

‘As Bad As I Guana Be’ nails…

emmamulhollandedited1emma mulhlland iguana nails 1emmamulholland2emma mulholland & screenshotemmamulholland3emma mulholland gila nails 1emmamulholland4emma mulholland & IGUANA1

Did your head just explode after seeing all those prints?! Amazing aren’t they?! I think you will find the answer to both of those questions is YES! Emma Mulholland has done it again, only this time, with lizards. Keeping with the Aussie theme, it’s surfer, meets basketball meets, reptile with this collection. I love the tie dye, the mesh, the sporty theme, the sequins, the everything! I still can’t decide which print I like the most Gila or Iguana? & How awesome is it that all the pieces look so wearable & interchangeable?! I can just imagine wearing the Iguana swimsuit when me & the boy go on our surfing trip this summer & I need to get my hands on one of those caps! I can’t wait for this collection to hit the store!

When Emma got in touch with me after she saw my ‘tropical rebel’ nails I was ecstatic! & when she asked me to paint up some more nails for ‘As Bas As I Guana Be’ I literally fell off my chair, I read her email through at least five times just to make sure it was real ahahha! Anyway, these are the nails I came up with in the end, one wheel for the iguanas & one for the gila monsters, what do you think? Even though they didn’t make it to Aus in time to be shot in her lookbook & short fashion film, which was showcased at the Grand Social as part of Sydney fashion week, in the end (gutted isn’t the word >.< damn air mail) I am still proud to have been given the awesome opportunity to work with such a fab designer. Seriously Emma, you are amazingly talented, keep up the awesome work!

See the whole lookbook here>link
& behind the scenes photos here>link (& spy Emma wearing her tropical rebel great white skirt!)
I can’t wait to see the promo pics!

If you are too impatient to wait for the collection to hit the store, you can get your iguana print fix here>link & bag yourself this sweet wallet for an amazing $15!

Silver nail foils*…

SILVER NAIL FOILS 7SILVER NAIL FOILS 1SILVER NAIL FOILS 2NAIL FOILS 1SILVER NAIL FOILS 3
A bit of a different nail post today. As my nails are short again, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out these lovely silver nail foils from Born Pretty.

I have tried Nail Rock foils out before & quite frankly, I thought they were a bit of a faff to put on (cue me fannying around with a hairdryer & nail file, trying to attach them to my nails, total faff) & they didn’t last very long.

These ones however, I actually really enjoyed applying! They were really easy to attach to my nails & there was no hairdryer required! Wooo! & considering I have showered, done the washing up & fake tanned etc since applying them, these babies have held up pretty well!

What do you think? Have you ever tried nail foils before?

Tye dye tigers…

JANCHRISTIE TIGERSJANCHRISTIE TIGERS 2
Tiger nail stickers> link
So, my nails haven’t been looking that great recently (all yellow & icky) They were getting a bit to long & I was beginning to look like a bit of a bag lady so I decided it was time to file them down & cover up the yellowness with some colour for a change! :)

As you can see, I went a little overboard with the whole ‘colour choosing’ & ended up using practically every colour you could think of to create a sort of tye dye effect. (how hipster ;) lolz) I don’t know about you, but I really like it & I think the tigers look awesome with a bit of tye dye behind them.

Remember, if you buy anything from ‘janchristie’ to write ‘effie’ in the comment box at the checkout to receive a few samples with your order! Also, just a heads up that you can now follow ‘janchristie’ on twitter & ‘like’ them on facebook! They are planning on doing competitions etc so go & check out their pages to keep up to date with them & their new designs. & don’t forget you can send/share your photos with ‘janchristie’ on facebook & twitter too! I’m sure they would love to see their designs in action! :)

PS: To all you cat lovers, I have a sneaky feeling that there might be some new cat face stickers listed ;)

Tabby cat nails…

So I have been sporting these rather cute tabby cats on my nails this week. What do you think? I am really sorry if you think these posts are a little ‘samey’ but I am just not over having little animal faces on my nails. I love it! Also, I don’t know if you can tell, but I squared my nails off the other day for the first time in months & it feels weird. #uselessinformation

Remember, if you buy any nail stickers from ‘janchristie’, don’t forget to write ‘effie’ in the comment box at the checkout & she will try & include a few samples with your order!

So here they are, as requested, the pugs! :) They are so cute. I think I want animals on my nails forever from now on ahahaha!

The lovely ‘janchristie’ has been nice enough to say if you buy any nail stickers from her shop & you write in the comment box ‘effie’ when you go to the checkout, she will try & add some sample stickers to your order! :) Generous? I think so! :)

Right, I need to go & pack. Were off to Bilbao for a couple of days to pick up the mother & brother inlaws so I might be a little quiet on here & twitter until Friday. Let me know what you think of the nails & which design you would most like to see next! :)

Emma Mulholland ‘tropical rebel’ inspired nails…

EMMA MULHOLLAND 1EMMA MULHOLLAND GREAT WHITE NAILS 1EMMA MULHOLLAND 2
I have been fascinated by sharks (& general marine life) forever. That’s not even an exaggeration. Remember being younger when everyone wanted a pet dolphin? Well, I was the kid that wanted a shark.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have swooned over this collection. Seriously, it’s perfect! The colours are perfect, the cuts are perfect & the sharks are prefect! I have never seen anything like it before, it’s utterly stunning! & I couldn’t not try & translate it to nails!

So what do you think?

Anyone fancy buying me the high waist great white jeans? Anybody?

Black cat nails…

CAT NAILSJANCHRISTIE 1CAT NAILS 4
Nail stickers> link
I want to start off by saying that I have been in no way ‘asked’ to do this post, I simply found this seller on ebay & thought they were so fantastic that I needed to share them with you all!

I was originally mooching around ebay trying to find some rabbit nail stickers (no such luck) but whilst I was searching, I came across ‘janchristie’ & her awesome nail stickers! She has all kinds of designs that she makes herself, including various cats, dogs, tigers, foxes, squirrels, flowers… the list goes on.

As you can see, I went a little crazy & ended up buying quite a few different designs. I was suckered in by the ‘buy four sheets at the same time & get an extra sheet free’ offer, & with 24 stickers per sheet, that’s like, 10 full sets of nails with a few to spare! I couldn’t resist.

I can’t wait to try out the other designs I bought & I will be blogging about all of them so you can see what they look like on. They are such a great alternative to painted nail art, & they were super easy to apply! So what do you think? Have you ever tried nail stickers?
