Boo!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Well, hi again!, long time no freaking see again >.< Basically because my laptop is a hot mess & my camera is awol (all the lols)

This post is a little random but I thought it might be a nice ‘ice breaker’ back into the blogosphere. If you follow my instagram @effiesmakeupbox you will have probably already seen some of these photos (if you don’t, then go & follow, I promise my feed is pretty OK (a no belfie zone but still pretty good ;)

So yeah, this post is pretty self explanatory really, I dressed up as quite a few bits & bobs this Halloween (Ariel being my favourite, closely followed by Lydia Deetz) Gotta love a bit of Halloween cosplay! & then there are the obligatory pumpkins, I swear we pick something harder & harder each year to carve, this year being Groot & Star Lorde from Guardians Of The Galaxy (SUCH a good film!)

Anyway, I think it’s nice to be back? I’m gonna stop rambling now & let you get on with the rest of your Sundays :) What did you guys dress up as for Halloween? Also, leave your instagrams in the comments/tweet me (probably best to tweet me actually as I’m more likely to check there first) cos I’m always looking for new pretty accounts to follow! ^_^

Stargazer Green Glitter Nails…

RIMMEL ULTRA SHINE TOP COATGREEN GLITTER NAILS STARGAZERGREEN GLITTER NAILS RIMMELRIMMEL STARGAZER GREEN GLITTER
Green Glitter*: Stargazer
Rimmel High Shine Top Coat

The awesome people at Stargazer kindly sent me a wee care package the other week of some of their newest stock & aside from the eyeliner pen (which is awesome) this green glitter pot stood out to me the most. One because it is sparkly, everyone loves a bit of glitter non? & two, the colour, I love the colour green so much, black aside, it’s probably my favourite.

The obvious thing to do with a glitter pot is probably to use it as eye shadow, which would be fab but I really wanted to be able to get more every day wear out of it so, as you can see, nails quickly sprung to mind.
It’s kind of self explanatory how I did it but basically & coated my nails with clear polish, dunked my fingers into the glitter pot, let the polish dry a little, wiped off the excess glitter from my nails & fingers then added another couple our clear top coats to keep the glitter in place & looking mighty shiny!

Now I know what you are thinking, it’s all well & good that it looks pretty on your nails Hev, but was it a bitch to get off?!?! NO! :) Because of the clear coat that I used, it’s kind of gel like, the glitter was SUPER easy to get off my nails, you know no dunking them in goodness knows how much nail varnish remover & going through a packet of cotton wool pads, no, no, this baby just peeled right off when I wanted it to, leaving no sign of any glitter, hurrah! :)

What do you think? Have you ever tried using glitter as nail varnish?

DIY glitter brogues…

DIY GLITTER BROGUESGLITTERMOD PODGEPRIMARK BROGUESDIY GLITTER BROGUES 5DIY GLITTER SHOESDIY GLITTER BROGUES 3

These are now officially the glitteriest shoes I own & they were so easy to make too! I have been wanting to buy a pair of glittery shoes for a while & I really like the silver ones Primark have in their A/W lookbook. However they are not in stores yet & I couldn’t wait so I thought I would just have a go at making my own.

Long story short, I found my old Primark brogues, bought some glitter & glue, mixed the glitter & glue into a paste, painted it all over my brogues & hey presto, I now have a lovely pair of glittery shoes! ^_^

Just bare in mind if you are going to try this out yourself that you have to be quite patient, you have to wait for each layer of glue to dry before adding the next, & it will only work on quite sturdy shoes like brogues/boots rather than say, ballet pumps otherwise the glue will end up cracking whenever the shoes bend.

let me know if you give this a go! Send me your links, I would love to see your DIY’s! ^_^
